Jennie Edgar is a visual artist based in New York and Madrid.

Interested in repetition of simple lines and forms as a way of considering a hand-sewn stitch as well as the space around the mark, Jennie explores the aesthetics of transformative atmospheres that build and aggregate to evoke moods and resonances. Her tendency for deep noticing has informed her academic training in the religious expressions of ritualization and meaning-making, as well as her fiction as a writer. These practices now inspire her exploration of ineffable phenomena of everyday life through her works on fine paper and silk thread. By rendering gestures evocative of human experience through a nonlinguistic grid form, she repeats single shapes to create an epistemic space wherein their variations create a mood - an atmosphere - in which something we have yet to encounter feels intensely familiar. This repetition is a meditation on presence within the passage of time to evoke a something - something once felt, intuited, hoped for.

Jennie’s artwork is found in private collections across the United States and Canada. Her practice was featured in The New York Times.
